Michael Head, Mick to many, is the lead singer and songwriter in the band Shack. He was born in Kensington, Liverpool.
The lead singer and principal songwriter of both the The Pale Fountains – formed and active during the early 1980’s and more recently Shack – from 1986 onwards (minus the odd hiatus). Both bands feature his younger brother John Head, who has also provided songwriting output. Both bands have benefitted from a cult following throughout their musical lifespan.
Much is written of Mick’s songwriting calibre in recent times. In 1999, the NME featured Mick on their cover and proudly declared – “This man is our greatest songwriter. Recognise him?” For those who have had the pleasure of listening to lost classics, Waterpistol and The Magical World of the Strands the answer should be yes.
Shack are currently signed to Noel Gallaghers record label Sour Mash. As well as Noel, the band have a plethora of famous fans including Pete Townsend from The Who.
For me, Michael Head is a musical genius. Shack and those that love them have been an important centrepoint in my discovery of so much other great music; Love with Arthur Lee, The La’s, Nick Drake, The Pale Fountains, The Beatles, The Stone Roses, Echo and the Bunnymen.
The purpose of this site is provide a small portal in which to place Song Lyrics, Chords, Links, Articles, News, Images, Reviews. etc. I hope you enjoy the look and feel of it.
